New Orient House is the Headquarters
of the Palestinian Team for the Middle East Peace Talks that participated
at the Madrid Conference. Following those, foreign government guests at
various levels have consistently visited the Orient House to sustain and
advance peace negotiations.
The New Orient House comprises several offices:
The Office of
Faisal Hussein I
Its function is to welcome guests, perform secretarial
tasks, archive updating; its network includes Internet, E-mail, faxes,
a scanner and computers. Other tasks cover coordinating activities between
the Offices, prepare appointments for the foreign and local press with
Faisal Husseini, to organize conferences. It prepares the daily work schedule
for Faisal Husseini, including travel programs.
International
Relations Office
There are several desks that cover that cover the
world by regions, namely North America, Latin America, Asia, the Arab World,
Israel, Africa, and Europe. The task of each desk officer comprises to
have a constant exchange of views with the countries assigned on political
matters, foreign affairs, analysis of the general situation in the country
in general and Jerusalem in particular, and to constantly coordinate official
visits and activities with countries they are in charge of.
The Private Sector
and Investment Unit
Established in 1994, it assists, coordinates and
coordinates with forces of the private sector at the international and
local levels.
By virtue of its location the PSIU has a special focus on promoting and
facilitating private investment in East Jerusalem.
It aims at maintaining a strong relationship between the local private
sector and the Palestinian Authority, and insures frequent dialogue for
helping to create a positive investment climate.
Press and Public
Information Office
It plays an important role for diffusing information
on national and international levels. Monitors daily events in Palestine,
especially in Jerusalem. Other activities include arranging interviews
for the media andFaisal Husseini; press releases to local and foreign press
on specific events mostly relating to Jerusalem arid the Orient House;
daily news bulletin in various languages to Consulates and Embassies; making
study papers on Jerusalem land confiscation, settlements, house destruction,
prisoners, water, environment, etc...
Protocol Office
Takes care of making the necessary arrangements for
hails where meetings and conferences take place, prepares and organizes
tours for Orient House guests. Monitors National Days of countries and
sends greetings or messages whenever the occasion arises.
Administrative
Office
Comprises six departments, namely:
Personnel.' in charge of all employees of the Orient House.
Procurement arid supplies.
Maintenance and equipment.
Transport.
Security personnel.
Daily coordinating with the heads of each Office.
Accounting Office
The Office of Financial Affairs is the sole executive
body authorized to receive funds and pay financial dues and to implement
items of the general annual budget. Besides that; the Office is responsible
for the supervision of organizing the financial work at the Orient House
through a team of accountants, a treasurer and auditors.
The Office uses an accounting computerized system designed for the purpose.
Social Affairs
Office
It aims to help citizens of Jerusalem and the surrounding
villages. Under
occupation, the educational health, financial, social difficulties faced
by the
population are enormous and the Office's objective is to try to help in
solving the complaints presented by individuals or Palestinian institutions.
